“And Karen Kostiw of Warburg Realty believes a porthole window could be a distraction, and it might turn off a buyer. “Today’s buyers are looking for large windows and lots of light,” she says. However, if there are other windows that provide natural light, it probably won’t be a deal-breaker. And in waterfront homes, it could actually be a selling point.” Someone recently pointed out to me that another issue with porthole windows is “that it is hard to have a shade over them for privacy. I think that for an upper level/attic they are good but for a main level, might be hard if you want privacy and the consideration of how it will look from the outside is a factor.”
