Upper East Side

The Upper East Side (“UES”) neighborhood comprises several smaller neighborhoods (Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill and Yorkville).  The architecture of the area is a blend of classic brownstones and upscale high-rises and where the super-elite families such as: Rockefellers, Roosevelts, Kennedys and rumor has it the Obamas will soon be residents.  Gracie Mansion the house to the Mayors of the City of New York resides on the UES within Carl Schurz Park overlooking Hell Gate channel in the East River. Museum Mile stretches along Central Park via 5^th Avenue whose cultural institutions included:  The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Neu Galerie, the Frick and El Museo del Barrio. High-end luxury boutiques have their flag-ship stores dotting along Madison Avenue.  The area comprises a number of top-notch private schools, hospitals (such as:  Lenox-Hill, New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell, Mount Sinai, New York Hospital for Special Surgery, Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat) and restaurants.  The Upper East Side is now an opportunity draw for the young urban professionals given the new addition of the Q train and more reasonable housing stock prices.
